Dear GES Families,

Half-days Next Week!

State testing continues next week, on Monday April 27th and Tuesday, the 28th.

Please be sure to help your student have a good night sleep the night before and a good, protein rich breakfast in the morning.

There will be plenty of time for breakfast at school. Details are below as well as in the district calendar of events. 

We are entering the final two months of school and this is a great time to learn all about finishing strong and ending the school year with a sense of pride. 

Thank you for helping your students prepare for this past week's English Language Arts tests and for preparing for math tests on Monday and Tuesday. We are proud of our students!

Please also note, that Friday, May 22nd, 2026 is now a Snow Day Give Back Day and there is no school.

April is Autism Awareness Month  - Here is a link to free resources for guardians, students and families.

4/25 - Free Family Friendly Event: Blue and Gold Track and Field Invitational: Come see the high school Varsity Track and Field team compete against 14 other schools, right here in Granville. 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Families and community welcome. Coffee, breakfast, delicious food throughout the day - all cash. Come cheer on "the big kids" at Granville CSD. At the track behind the Jr/Sr High. 

4/27 - 4/28 - GES State Testing, 11:00 AM Dismissal 

4/29 - Community Resource: Salem Community Health Open House - You do not need insurance to attend or join the practice. Here is the link to learn more.

Half-Days at GES Next Week


APRIL 2026 TESTING DATES

Dear GES Families,

As we move into the spring season, our students in Grades 3–6 are getting ready to show how much they’ve learned this year.

Please note the following New York State Assessment dates. On ELA and Math testing days, students will attend half-day sessions. 

To accommodate the testing schedule, we will have three separate bus runs for students:

11:00 AM: Initial bus run home. (Majority of students will be on this run)

12:00 PM: Second bus run home. (For students needing extended testing time)

2:25 PM (Normal Dismissal): Final bus run for students needing extended testing time.

Math Assessments

April 27 & April 28

½ days – 11:00 AM dismissal


Science Assessment (Grade 5 Only)

The Science exam will take place during the regular school day


Make-Up Testing

All make-ups will occur during regular school days

Opt-Out Policy

Written Notification: Please send in a letter stating that you are opting your student out of and which specific assessment you are opting your student out of (Math, ELA or Science). 

Attendance: Opt-out students should NOT be attending school on 1/2 day testing days and will be marked absent. 


Testing Tips

Your support makes a big difference! You can help your child feel calm, confident, and ready by:

✔ Ensuring a full night of sleep before testing days
✔ Encouraging a healthy, protein-rich breakfast
✔ Offering positive encouragement and reminding them to simply do their best

Our goal is for every student to feel proud of their effort and growth. Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us support our students as they shine.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping our testing week run smoothly. 

 

Free After School Events

Every Thursday - NOW AT GES! FREE After-school Food, Fun and Friends with St. Mary's Volunteers for GES and Jr/Sr High students right after school until - 5:00 PM. Here is the link to register for free. Program is nearly full. 


Every Thursday - Gardening with Ms. Law. Program is now full. After school until 3:45 PM. Learn more.

Select Thursdays - Cricket with Mr. Rochlani - Learn more and join next school year.


VEX Robotics  - Learn more. Apply next year! This is a teacher recommended program.

Gardening is off to a great start at GES!

Cricket with Mr. Rochlani

GES students are learning about the most popular international sport - Cricket, thanks to GES Teacher, Mr. Rochlani.

The new venture is going strong with students now outside, practicing the game and learning as they go.

Finish Strong Routines for Families 

We are entering the final two months of school and that can mean an extra busy time for families and students.

It's not too late to finish strong!

Here are 3 routines to help you and your student feel calmer, more organized and ready to learn during May and June.

Bus of the Month Winner!

Congratulations to students and staff of Bus 127!

This bus carries students to all buildings and has been example of bus safety, getting along well with each other, and being kind and respectful to their driver.

Getting along with others, accepting each other’s differences and being respectful to your driver goes a long way and will continue to serve you well in life.

All students received a special treat of appreciation for steady improvements in bus behavior and bus safety - Scarlotta’s Car Hop coupons for Jr/Sr High students and coupons for a school snack or ice cream at MJT and GES!

Bus Driver, Mr. Juckett received the Energy Bus book from the Granville, NY PTO and a a beautiful gift bag full of Rathbun's Maple Sugar House goods and a gift certificate to Rathbun’s too courtesy of Wendy Rathbun. Thank you! Go Horde!

Nurse's Office


The warmer weather is making recess extra fun and extra messy.

Students are needing a change of clothing.

Please consider bringing extra pair of pants or shorts for your student to change into if needed, with a plastic bag.

Pack Sneakers for P.E. Class

Please remember to pack sneakers each day for gym class!


If you like, you can leave a clean, old pair of sneakers in your student's classroom cubby to leave at school for gym.

Create a Family Calendar - On weekends, consider jotting down important reminders of your family's school, work and activities schedule for the week ahead. A piece of paper labeled Monday - Sunday and taped to the fridge works, or a repurposed kids chalkboard or dry eraser board by the front door is great too or try using the printed school wall calendar.

Snacks! Please pack a healthy, filling snack everyday for your student to help them focus and feel good. Twice per week, students are introduced to new fresh fruits or vegetables.
