GES PTO Glow Party - March 2026

Principal Ten Eyck

Dear GES Families,

Just one month and a half until the end of school!

There are many upcoming events for your students and family. Please check the live school calendar on the school website or in the school App each week for the latest.

Thank you for being part of our school!

Here are a few reminders:

Snack and Water

Please continue to send your student to school with a small snack daily to help your student focus and feel good at school.  As mentioned in previous newsletters, please only send your student to school with clear water for the classroom (juice for lunch is fine).  Please avoid adding colored, sugary powders or squirts to the water as they disrupt your student's ability to focus and feel calm and steady at school due to their ingredients.

Class Lists for 2026-2027

We will be working to make class lists soon for the 2026-2027 school year.  As a reminder, we do not accept requests for specific teachers.  If you have a situation that you would like me to consider regarding your child's placement for the next school year, you must submit it directly to me (not the classroom teacher) in writing no later than Friday, May 22.  I will take your request into consideration, but cannot make guarantees that it will be accommodated.

Warmly,

Ms. Ten Eyck

Principal, Granville Elementary School

Health and Safety Notices

Caffeine Pods and The Monkey App

1) Caffeine Pods are small, white pouches designed to be placed under the lip and can look very similar to products such as nicotine pouches. Even when labeled as “Energy Pouches,” this is concerning as it looks like a substance they cannot verify, which presents a clear safety risk. Please note: These items are strictly prohibited at school and on school grounds at GES.

2) An App called The Monkey is making the rounds among students in the region. It is a high-risk video chat platform connecting users, often children and teens, with strangers via random, short video calls.

Safety concerns include exposure to explicit content, predatory behavior, and lack of strict age verification, despite a 18+ policy. It is similar to Omegle, often used for quick, anonymous interactions and "pranks".

Check the Events Calendar Each Week - It is updated regularly with reminders, important dates and free opportunities. Find the events calendar in the school App or at GranvilleCSD.org/events

Create a Family Calendar - On weekends, consider jotting down important reminders of your family's school, work and activities schedule for the week ahead. A piece of paper labeled Monday - Sunday and taped to the fridge works, or a repurposed kids chalkboard or dry eraser board by the front door is great too or try using the printed school wall calendar.
