Dear GES Families,

Spring is getting closer and March is the time of year when it can sometimes feel hard to get to school.

As long as your student is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session. If you have questions about your student coming to school due to a health or mental health concern, please contact our care team and we'll be glad to help. (Contact info at the end of this newsletter)

If your student needs help with allergies or needs a few personal items to fill in the gap, please don't hesitate to contact our school nurse or myself directly and we'll find a way to help.

If you have older students in the Jr/Sr High, we have a Care Closet in Junior High Guidance that your child can "shop for free" for all sorts of personal care items, clothing and foods.

And don't forget our Backpacks for Hunger program. If your family could use some grocery extra support, please reach out to your teacher, nurse or myself for a referral for a backpack full of non-perishable food on weekends and school breaks for your student.

We have many more resources at Granville CSD. Check out the Community School page for more ideas.

Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers.

See you on Monday!

Warm regards,

Principal Ten Eyck

Reminders

*** Lost and Found ***

Please come look through our lost and found before Monday, April 14th. The pile is HUGE. All remaining items will be donated during spring break.

Transportation

Please remember to ensure that bus notes are submitted by 11:00 AM each day. This helps us manage transportation effectively and ensures your child gets home safely.

***Cold Weather and Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate outerwear like boots, hats, gloves and snow pants or extra pants. If providing winter clothing presents a challenge, please reach out to the Principal or School Nurse for support—we are happy to assist with any needs.

Nurse’s Office and Medication

If your child takes medication before the school day, please ensure it’s provided before they arrive, or submit any necessary doctor’s orders to the school nurse and we can assist at school.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, to help them focus and feel good. Here is the link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Need Extra Support?

Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.
Here is our staff directory. Here is our Community School page with additional family resources.

***School Work***

Keep encouraging your child to work hard on their school work—every effort counts and helps student learn important life skills.

Students of the Week

Each week, one student is selected from each grade by their teachers and staff for being responsible and kind with their peers and in the classroom.

6th Graders at Spirit Night

6th Graders were invited to participate in one of the Spirit Night games this week at the Jr/Sr High. It's a great opportunity to meet Jr/Sr High students who become friendly, familiar faces in 7th grade.

Our 6th grade families were also invited to Parent Night this week for an introduction to 7th grade opportunities and school tour. (5th Grade families, you'll get to do this next year too!)
