Dear GES Families,

I hope you had a good week.

State Testing: While we've experienced a few hiccups with the computer based testing functioning this week that was beyond our control, overall, I'm so proud of how our staff and students were able to be flexible and focused, despite the challenges. Thank you families for being supportive during this time! It really helps.

Testing Schedule: I’ve attached the schedule below. Please try to ensure your student arrives well rested and ready to go on testing days, thank you.Testing is also a good reminder to tell our kids that they are amazing, regardless of what the scores show.

Bus Reminder: Each day, a different bus will not be leaving GES until approximately 4:25. Here is the bus information for when you return from Spring Recess - 4/21 - 5/2.

Spring Recess: As you take time off for Spring Recess, consider getting outside a little. The DiscoverGranvilleNY.com website has local resources to explore, including local food pantries for necessities, if needed. And don't forget our Community School page, where there are lots of free online educational resources that you can enjoy in 10-15 minutes a day to improve your student's reading, math or just have fun while learning something new.

See you on on Monday the 21st!

Warm regards,

Principal Ten Eyck

*Bus Schedule Changes for 4/21 - 5/2 - Details here.

***Transportation***

Please remember to ensure that bus notes are submitted by 11:00 AM each day. This helps us manage transportation effectively and ensures your child gets home safely.

***Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate chilly spring outerwear like boots, hats, gloves or extra pants.

***Nurse’s Office and Medication***

If your child takes medication before the school day, please ensure it’s provided before they arrive, or submit any necessary doctor’s orders to the school nurse and we can assist at school.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, to help them focus and feel good. Here is the link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Need Extra Support?

Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.
Here is our staff directory. Here is our District Contact Guide. Here is our Community School page with additional free family resources.

***Why Being on Time Matters***

Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends. Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well. Being on time also prepares students for being able to land and keep a great job when they graduate from Granville CSD. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 8:45am.  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:45am.

***Internet and Media Safety Tips for Families***

Consider putting children's phones and tablets on downtime after bedtime. (You can learn how on the Community School page, under free internet and media safety resources.)
