Dear GES Families,

I hope you had a good week.

State testing is coming up! I’ve attached the schedule below. Testing is a good reminder to tell our kids that they are amazing, regardless of what the scores show. Please try to ensure your student arrives well rested and ready to go on testing days, thank you.

Shout-out to our PTO! The science fair and glow dance were such a hit in March! The kids had an absolute blast, and I am very appreciative of all the family and staff volunteers that made these events happen.

Our third graders have been writing some incredible letters to the principal about getting class pets (while also tackling fractions!), and fourth grade has been working hard on mastering the lowest common denominators and diving into phonics initiatives. Great work all around!

Free Breakfast - Please feel welcome to arrive to school 10-15 minutes early to enjoy a free breakfast on us. A full belly each morning helps your student focus, get along with others and feel ready to learn important life skills.

Bus Reminder: Each day, a different bus will not be leaving GES until approximately 4:25. Here is the bus information for 3/31 - 4/11.

See you on Monday!

Warm regards,

Principal Ten Eyck

*Bus Schedule Changes for 3/31 - 4/11 - Details here.

***Transportation***

Please remember to ensure that bus notes are submitted by 11:00 AM each day. This helps us manage transportation effectively and ensures your child gets home safely.

***Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate chilly spring outerwear like boots, hats, gloves or extra pants.

***Nurse’s Office and Medication***

If your child takes medication before the school day, please ensure it’s provided before they arrive, or submit any necessary doctor’s orders to the school nurse and we can assist at school.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, to help them focus and feel good. Here is the link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Need Extra Support?

Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.
Here is our staff directory. Here is our Community School page with additional family resources.

***Why Being on Time Matters***

Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends.  Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 8:45am.  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:45am. Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well. Being on time also prepares students for being able to land and keep a great job when they graduate from Granville CSD.

***Good Night Sleep Tips***

Consider putting children's phones and tablets on downtime after bedtime. (You can learn how on the Community School page, under free internet and media safety resources.)

GES Visits the Ag Fair

Our students visited the Jr/Sr High school today and enjoyed a dozen learning stations about animals, veterinary science, composting, bee keeping, cooking, gardening and so much more. Each station provided a fun mini-lesson from a Jr/Sr High FFA student or staff member from nearby organizations such as Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Environmental Conservation Police.
