Staff Highlight

The Granville Junior Senior High School Art Department is pleased to present "Hidden In Plain Sight," a photography work created by Cali Powell.

The true title of Cali Powell’s work is hidden in the symbolic portraits of a diverse group of women, each representing the significance and strength of women.

The show is predominantly digital photography. "My mother and many other women in my life inspired me to create this artwork to emphasize how strong we are," Cali says.

"These strong and powerful women like my grandmother, mother, and all of the women presented in this show are often hidden in plain sight in our society and overlooked by many."

This artwork reflects the beauty, strength, significance, and untapped potential of women.

This show is a message that rejects the societal gender norms that women are weak and dependent.

For questions about upcoming showings of Cali's work, please contact Todd Houston: thouston@granvillecsd.org

Congratulations to Granville CSD 10th grader, Cali Powell!

Career Planning

Grades 7-12 is an important time to start talking about what happens after high school with your student.

Granville CSD has many ways to support your student with future planning.

In 7th grade and 8th grade, your guidance counselor will help you and your student decide what career and education pathway your student would like to be on in 9-12 grades.

In 9th Grade we have TRIO Upward Bound (7th and 8th grade families, be ready to apply early in the 9th grade school year.)

We have 17 professional trade training programs through BOCES that lead to good jobs.

We have Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) and P-TECH for 11th and 12th grades.

We have Syracuse University Advance Project (SUPA) classes that allow your student to gain college credit while in high school. A huge savings!

We have local, state and national scholarships for all kinds of programs - from the trades, to local workforce, to college. Check out this free 2-year to 5-year college-tuition scholarship for NYS families earning under 125K.

Did you know that Vermont students who graduate from Granville can also receive in-state SUNY tuition?

It all starts with getting to school on time and being curious about the opportunities available, while you're in school.

Talk to your guidance counselor to discuss how to get started.
