After Prom Committee Needs You

After-Prom Committee is in urgent need of new volunteers, leadership community and donations.

After Prom is a special, parent-led event designed to keep students at a safe and fun party on school grounds.

Traditionally, this event is organized by Junior Class families.

The organizer is ready to train new leaders and welcomes Jr/Sr High parent/guardians and community members.

Without additional support After Prom may not happen.

Can you or someone you know take the lead on one of the following fundraising activities?

- Lottery Board (donations for the board needed as well)

- Super Bowl Squares (approval was given to sell at basketball games)

- Bingo at MWA (one or two evenings in Wells, Vt)

- April Coin Drop (working with Trap Club members to split proceeds)

- Open to other fundraising suggestions!

- Chaperones needed for After Prom event

Please contact Bridget Sheldrick-Humphries TODAY at granvilleafterprom@yahoo.com for questions and how you would like to get involved.

Ag Mechanics Trip to SUNY Cobleskill

Ag Mechanics students visit SUNY Cobleskill thanks to Ag Teacher, Ms. Nephew (pictured front left with black vest) and Business Teacher, Mr. Graney (pictured on right in tan pants).

Ms. Nephew shared, "SUNY Cobleskill did a fantastic job giving us a tour of the John Deere Program. Our students were able to speak to the professors about career opportunities and career guarantees coming right out of their program. How many students get to sit in or take a picture in front of a million dollar piece of equipment?"

Career Planning Tips

Grades 7-12 is an important time to start talking about what happens after high school with your student.

In 8th grade, families can apply for P-TECH, a free program that begins in 9th grade and leads to a FREE two-year college degree in one of two in-demand technology careers: Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Networking and Cybersecurity.

In 9th Grade, families who qualify can apply for the FREE TRIO Upward Bound program to mentor your student through high school (be ready to apply early in the 9th grade school year.)

In 10th grade, students can apply for BOCES which offers FREE 17 professional trade training programs that lead to good paying, in-demand jobs.

Students can take college level classes and we have FREE Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) to earn a two-year college degree in a variety of programs -- all while in high school.

We have Syracuse University Advance Project (SUPA) classes to gain college credit while in high school. A huge savings!

Funding Vocational School and College

Free 2-year to 5-year college-tuition scholarship for NYS families earning under 125K. Guidance has the latest information about Scholarships, apprenticeships, college and more.

Vermont students who graduate from Granville can also receive in-state SUNY tuition.

It all starts with getting to school on time and being curious about the opportunities available, while you're in school.

Talk to your guidance counselor to discuss how to get started.
