Ag Mechanics, taught by Mrs. Nephew, is for grade 10 - 12 students who would like to try out a variety of mechanical trade specialities. This is part of a five-part agriculture sequence of electives that leads to an advanced regents diploma.
From electricity work, welding, small engine repair, woodworking, surveying, a tractor safety course, and an even plumbing, this is a great introduction to a variety of careers.
Students in class are a mix of college bound and workforce bound. Two students shared they plan on studying civil engineering in a four-year college, another student plans to join the Air Force to become a mechanic, and others want to learn how to take over family businesses, learn a trade and or explore professions that might best suit them.
The class was engaged, focused and happily working on their electrical projects today and seemed to enjoy their work.
