Winter Track Team 2025

Girls JV Basketball Highlights

Coach Jacqueline Frasier: "We had a great season finishing with a winning record of 10-9 and 6th in our league. We were a very young team and had all new players to the JV squad this year, two 7th graders (Elsie Ellis & Joysie Velez), two 8th graders (Kait Bascom & Paisley Mattison) and five 9th graders (Ava Badger, Trishia Goodreau, Reannah Greene, Brookelyn Sears and Shanell Williams). They all stepped up and improved tremendously from the beginning of the season to the end. Four of these players plan on playing AAU basketball in the offseason and I look forward to coaching them during summer ball and next year!"

Career Planning

Grades 7-12 is an important time to start talking about what happens after high school with your student.

Granville CSD has many ways to support your student with future planning.

In 8th grade, families can apply for P-TECH, a free program that begins in 9th grade and leads to a FREE two-year college degree in one of two in-demand technology careers: Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Networking and Cybersecurity.

High School

In 9th Grade, families can apply for the FREE TRIO Upward Bound program to mentor your student through high school (be ready to apply early in the 9th grade school year.)

In 11th grade, we have FREE Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) to earn a two-year college degree in a variety of programs while in high school.

BOCES offers FREE 17 professional trade training programs that lead to good paying, in-demand jobs.

We have Syracuse University Advance Project (SUPA) classes to gain college credit while in high school. A huge savings!

Funding Vocational School and College

There are local, state and national grants and scholarships (money you do not have to give back) for all kinds of programs - from the trades, to local workforce, to college. Check out this free 2-year to 5-year college-tuition scholarship for NYS families earning under 125K. Guidance has the latest information about Scholarships, apprenticeships, college and more.

Vermont students who graduate from Granville can also receive in-state SUNY tuition.

It all starts with getting to school on time and being curious about the opportunities available, while you're in school.

Talk to your guidance counselor to discuss how to get started.

Media and Internet Safety

Media and internet safety resources for families are on the Community School page. Learn how to monitor screen time, downloads and internet use to help your student be safe, feel their best and improve their sleep.

Notice from 7th Grade Teachers: Please note that some 7th graders are on apps made to look like the now closed Omegle app, a platform that allowed minors to video chat with strangers. Learn more about it on InternetMatters.org here: https://www.internetmatters.org/advice/apps-and-platforms/social-media/omegle/
