PTO Staff Members of the Month

Each month the PTO generously gifts staff members in each building a beautiful slate frame and local gift card to celebrate our teachers. The Jr/Sr High building staff nominates the winners.

Ms. Marchese
Ms. Marchese, Spanish Teacher, May 2025

Staff Members Shared: "Cristina does a great job at getting her students engaged both in and out of the school environment. Within classes she uses different modes of presentation to engage her students. Outside of the classroom she recently took over organizing the Rail Trail to the Footbridge 5K where she encouraged several students to become engaged in the activity either by running the course or taking on volunteer positions. "

"Not only did she salvage the Rail Trail Race opportunity for the community, but also for students here at Granville."

Mrs.Smith
Mrs. Smith, Special Education, June 2025

Staff Members Shared: "Lisa is an exceptional teacher who shows a lot of patience, gentleness, kindness, and wisdom. Her calm, steady presence creates a safe and supportive environment where our LEAP students can thrive. Lisa has an incredible intuition for knowing exactly what her student needs—whether it’s a quiet moment, a gentle nudge of encouragement, or a creative new approach to keep them motivated. She doesn’t just instruct; she inspires, consistently modeling positive and effective ways to engage with students that works with them. Watching her work is a lesson in itself—her actions teach more than words ever could, and she sets a standard I strive to follow."

Career Planning

Grades 7-12 is an important time to start talking about what happens after high school with your student.

In 8th grade, families can apply for P-TECH, a free program that begins in 9th grade and leads to a FREE two-year college degree in one of two in-demand technology careers: Advanced Manufacturing or Computer Networking and Cybersecurity.

In 9th Grade, families who qualify can apply for the FREE TRIO Upward Bound program to mentor your student through high school (be ready to apply early in the 9th grade school year.)

In 10th grade, students can apply for BOCES which offers FREE 17 professional trade training programs that lead to good paying, in-demand jobs.

Students can take college level classes and we have FREE Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) to earn a two-year college degree in a variety of programs -- all while in high school.

We have Syracuse University Advance Project (SUPA) classes to gain college credit while in high school. A huge savings!

Funding Vocational School and College

Check out this free 2-year to 5-year college-tuition scholarship for NYS families earning under 125K. Guidance has the latest information about Scholarships, apprenticeships, college and more.

Vermont students who graduate from Granville can also receive in-state SUNY tuition.

It all starts with getting to school on time and being curious about the opportunities available, while you're in school.

Talk to your guidance counselor to discuss how to get started.
