MJT Fire Safety Lesson - Fall 2025

Dear MJT Families,

Happy New Year!

It was wonderful to see all of our students back at school this week!  Classes were right back into the swing of academics.

Over the next few weeks, you student (K-2) will be taking their second iReady diagnostic assessment for both ELA and Math.

As a reminder, these assessments measure their growth in the following areas:

ELA: Phonics, Phonological awareness, high frequency words, vocabulary, and comprehension of literary and informational texts.

Math: Numbers and operations, geometry, measurement and data, and algebra.

These assessments help us to track your student’s progress and fine-tune their individual instruction moving forward.

Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.

Principal, Mary J. Tanner School

Please Pack a Daily Snack

Twice per week, students are introduced to new fresh fruit or vegetable, thanks to a NYS grant and Granville CSD Food Director, Ms. Conklin for pursuing this grant each school year.

Please pack a healthy, filling snack each day!

Here are some great ideas.

Read Each Day

Reading 10-20 minutes a day with your child makes a huge difference in their ability to understand new words, improves speech and helps children feel calm and confident about learning new things.

Here is the link to the Pember Library and Museum - they are open from 10am - 1pm on Saturdays and library cards are free.

You can now subscribe to all of the Board of Education updates and they will arrive in your email inbox.

The Board of Education has a new, online platform (formerly called Board Docs) for sharing meeting agendas, policies, upcoming meetings and more in an easy-to-access manner.

This will ensure the school community - parents, community members, staff, and more can keep up to date with the Board of Education happenings.

This is a direct result of listening to the community's request!
