Dear School Families,
As required by law in New York State, students should be in attendance at school at least 90% of the time.
Here at MJT, we send attendance letters home when students have reached the 6, 12, or 18 day absence mark (regardless of excused vs. unexcused absences).
We recognize that this is often their first exposure to school and their early years can be challenging with illnesses and sniffles.
Receiving a letter is not necessarily cause for alarm and we encourage you to reach out to Nurse Blais or myself if you need assistance or have questions.
If we have concerns regarding your child’s attendance, we will reach out to you for further information or may ask you to come in for a meeting to see how we can be of support.
We will also contact you if we notice that your child has been tardy (late) to school on several occasions to see if we can be of help.
For students in K-2, they are marked tardy if they arrive after 8:00.
For UPK students, they are marked tardy after 8:15.
During the first week of December, we will begin making calls for students who have been excessively tardy or absent.
We truly appreciate your partnership and attention to this matter.
As a reminder, there is no school next Wednesday, 11/26 to Friday, 11/28 for the Thanksgiving break.
Wishing you a good weekend,
Mrs. Taylor
