Dear MJT Families,

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Friendship was certainly in the air this week, and students enjoyed many friendship activities here at school.  Today, we were fortunate enough to have a wonderful performance by the Jr/Sr high Jazz Ensemble!  They played fun and upbeat songs for us, and did an outstanding job answering our students’ questions.  I encourage you to ask your child about this, and see if they can name any of the cool instruments they saw!

Reminder- there is no school next week from 2/17-2/21 for Midwinter Recess.

When we return to school, please be sure to send your student with a winter coat, hat, boots, and mittens.  We try to get them outside when the temperature is above 20 degrees.  Students were able to walk by the lost and found and check for any missing items today.

Please see our district website for information pertaining to UPK and Kindergarten Registration.  All registration questions can be directed to Bridget Liebig at bliebig@granvillecsd.org, or 518-642-1051 ext. 1309.  Please direct any specific questions as they may relate to the programs to me at btaylor@granvillecsd.org or 518-462-9460 ext 4201.

As a reminder, per our district's attendance policy, attendance letters are sent home automatically when a student reaches 6(stage 1), 12(stage 2), or 18(stage 3) absences.  If you receive a stage 2 or stage 3 letter, you MAY be asked to come in for a meeting to discuss how we can help support your child to improve their attendance.  If you have not received a meeting time or phone call from us, that means that we already know the reasons for their absences and do not have concerns at this time.

Looking forward to seeing you back in school on Monday, February 24th.

Until then,

Mrs. Taylor

Dismissal Plans

If your child will need a different dismissal plan than usual, please be sure to send in a note in the morning, or to give the main office a call prior to 12:00.  This ensures that dismissal can go smoothly for your student.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, thank you! Click this link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Why Being on Time Matters

Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 9:00.  Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends.  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 9:00.  Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well.

***Winter Weather and Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate outerwear like boots, hats, gloves and snow pants or extra pants. If providing winter clothing presents a challenge, please reach out to the school for support—we are happy to assist with any needs.

*** Does Your Child Need Extra Support? ***

Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.
