Dear MJT Families,

What a beautiful week!  This week students were able to get outside, exercise, play and explore.

Construction is back underway on our new playground equipment, and should be finished in the next few weeks (as long as the weather cooperates).

Your student has received their own copy of Life According to Og the Frog, along with a reading schedule for the next three weeks.  Please read the assigned chapters each night, as there will be fun trivia opportunities each day at school.  Happy reading!

On Tuesday, our school enjoyed a performance from Opera Saratoga. The students had fun learning how to say "bravo!" and asking questions at the end. Pictures are below and snippets of the performance our on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

And our Jr/Sr High Agricultural Science students visited as well! See below.

REMINDER: Each day, a different bus will not be leaving MJT until approximately 4:30. Here is the bus information for 3/13 - 3/28.

Have a good weekend,

Mrs. Taylor

Dismissal Plans
If your child will need a different dismissal plan than usual, please be sure to send in a note in the morning, or to give the main office a call prior to 12:00.  This ensures that dismissal can go smoothly for your student.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, thank you! Click this link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Why Being on Time Matters

Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 9:00.  Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends.  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 9:00.  Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well.

***Cold Weather and Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate outerwear like boots, hats, gloves and snow pants or extra pants. If providing winter clothing presents a challenge, please reach out to the school for support—we are happy to assist with any needs.

*** Does Your Child Need Extra Support? ***
Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.

What is Opera Saratoga?

Each year, Opera Saratoga tours a children's Opera production to more than fifty public and private schools throughout the greater Capital and lower Adirondack regions of NY.

The performances feature charismatic professional artists who love to share their joy of music and theater through the opera, as well as through question and answer sessions where students have the opportunity to meet the artists and learn about the music and what it takes to put on a performance.

In a world where the default forms of entertainment for children are primarily television, video games, and the Internet, Opera Saratoga’s In-School Opera program provides youth with an all-too-rare opportunity to experience the visceral thrill of the live performing arts, up close and personal!

Opera Saratoga's touring program includes a professionally staged opera performance in your school, along with a post-performance discussion between the artists and your students.

There are additional free performances in the region here. Thank you to Granville graduate, Bill Lynch for introducing this program to our school.
