Dear MJT Families,

It is hard to believe that we have already reached Spring Break!  I hope that you and your families are able to enjoy a relaxing break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on April 21.

Snack Money - If you are sending in snack money with your student, please be sure to put it in a baggy or envelope.  You can also scan the QR code on the bottom of the lunch menu to add money directly to their lunch account.

Report cards will be sent home in your student's folder on Friday, 4/25.

No Toys and Phones - Recently we have had students bringing toys and phones from home to school.  As a reminder, toys from home are not allowed at school.  Teachers are not responsible for items that students bring in from home.  Likewise, cell phones for MJT students are not permitted at school or on the bus.  If a student MUST bring a phone to school for the purpose of going to a different home after school, it must stay off and in their backpack at all times.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Attendance - As we move into the last quarter of the school year, we will no longer be sending Stage 1 attendance letters for the remainder of the year (6 absences).  We will still continue to monitor attendance, and Stage 2 (12 absences) and Stage 3 (18 absences) will still be sent home.  As a reminder, even large amounts of excused absences can start to cause academic difficulties.  Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

School Bus Schedule Updates: An update was made to the schedule on 4/21 - 5/2. Here is the latest bus schedule information.

Wishing you all a wonderful Spring Break,

Mrs. Taylor

Dismissal Plans
If your child will need a different dismissal plan than usual, please be sure to send in a note in the morning, or to give the main office a call prior to 12:00.  This ensures that dismissal can go smoothly for your student.

***Pack a Snack***

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, thank you! Click this link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Why Being on Time Matters

Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends.  Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 9:00.  Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 9:00.  Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well.

***Chilly Spring Weather and Recess***

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate outerwear like boots, hats, gloves and or extra pants. If providing outdoor clothing presents a challenge, please reach out to the school for support—we are happy to assist with any needs.

Does Your Child Need Extra Support?
Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home.
Here is our staff directory. Here is the Community School page with bonus resources for academics and more.

***Internet and Media Safety Tips for Families***

Consider putting children's phones and tablets on downtime after bedtime. (You can learn how on the Community School page, under free internet and media safety resources.)
