Dear MJT Families,

As we prepare to wrap up the 2024-2025 school year, I want to thank each and every family for their support and contributions this year.

I hope that you’ve seen exceptional growth in your students this year.

Next week will be a week full of fun, congratulations, and goodbyes.

I wish our second graders a wonderful transition into the next part of their educational journey, at GES.  I will truly miss them!  Please see some photos below of their trip to visit GES this week.

Students who were selected for the summer academy will receive a notice with their teacher assignment in their folders today.

Congratulations to Riley Sheets for winning our MJT field day drawing contest! Her drawing depicted an excellent representation of sportsmanship.

Please take a moment to look at some upcoming dates and field trips below.

And, don't forget, sneakers or closed toe sandals with a heel strap are a MUST for daily outdoor recess.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. Taylor

Principal, Mary J. Tanner

Strong Attendance Builds Strong Futures

attendance tip

Being on Time in Primary School Prepares Your Student for their Future

Consistent or frequent tardiness can cause students to fall behind quickly, and it makes it hard for them to learn reading, math and make friends.

Likewise, frequently picking students up before the end of their scheduled day can cause them to fall behind and feel discouraged as well.

Please make every effort to ensure that your child is at school by 9:00.  Thank you!

Arrive to school 10-15 minutes early for a free breakfast!

Reminders

Dismissal Plans

If your child will need a different dismissal plan than usual, please be sure to send in a note in the morning, or to give the main office a call prior to 12:00.  This ensures that dismissal can go smoothly for your student.

Snacks

Please pack a filling afternoon snack for your children, thank you! Click this link for some helpful tips about when kids should snack and simple snack ideas.

Snack Money - If you are sending in snack money with your student, please be sure to put it in a baggy or envelope.  You can also scan the QR code on the bottom of the lunch menu to add money directly to their lunch account. To add money to your child's account, sign into MySchoolBucks.com with your student's ID. (To find your child's ID, look at your child's printed schedule sent home at the beginning of the year, log into eSchool or please call the main office.)

Recess

Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess by bringing appropriate outerwear like sneakers for PE and daily outdoor recess each day. Shoes must have a heel strap and covered toes. High heels and flip flops are not allowed for safety reasons. If providing outdoor clothing presents a challenge, please reach out to the school for support—we are happy to assist with any needs.

Does Your Child Need Extra Support?

Please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher and ask for assistance and resources that you can do at home. Here is our staff directory. Here is the Community School page with bonus resources for academics and more.

Internet and Media Safety Tips for Families

Consider putting children's phones and tablets on downtime after bedtime. (You can learn how on the Community School page, under free internet and media safety resources.)

No Toys and Phones

As a reminder, toys from home are not allowed at school. Likewise, cell phones for MJT students are not permitted at school or on the bus.  If a student MUST bring a phone to school for the purpose of going to a different home after school, it must stay off and in their backpack at all times.
