Dear GES Families,
Did you miss last week's issue? Here it is.
Can you believe we are heading into the final stretch of the school year? The sun is shining, the energy is high, and our school is absolutely buzzing with excitement. We have had such a blast lately, and we want to keep that positive momentum rolling all the way to summer!
Grab a cup of coffee and catch up on all the amazing things happening around the building, plus a few super important reminders to keep our school year finishing strong.
Safety First: Final Routine Drills
Just a quick heads-up that we will be conducting our final safety lockdown and fire drills of the school year over the next few weeks. These routine practices help keep our students and staff sharp, prepared, and confident. As always, thank you for chatting with your kiddos at home about how important these quick practices are.
Classroom & Field Trip Updates
To make sure our classrooms stay positive and distraction-free, we have two major updates in this newsletter. Please see below.
Field Trips
Please pay extra attention to the upcoming field trip details from your classroom teacher.
Thank you all for your incredible partnership, consistency, and support. Let's make these last few weeks the best ones yet!
Warmly,
Ms. Ten Eyck
Principal, Granville Elementary School 518-642-1051 Ext. 3202 tteneyck@granvillecsd.org

Our Students Have Talent! |
Last Friday’s GES Talent Show was an absolute knockout! I am always blown away by how brave and talented our 3rd–6th graders are. The audience was treated to some seriously impressive acts:
Rubik’s Cube Extraordinaires: Solving puzzles at mind-blowing speeds!
Musical Magic: Beautiful flute performances that wowed the crowd.
Showstoppers: Multiple singing and dancing acts that had everyone cheering!
A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support our performers. You made them feel like total rockstars.

High-Flying Kindness with Jason Tardy |
This week, we welcomed Master Juggler Jason Tardy for an unforgettable anti-bullying assembly!
He kept us on the edge of our seats with world-class juggling, comedy, and high energy—all while delivering a powerful message about kindness, inclusion, and looking out for one another.
It was the perfect mix of fun and meaningful character building. |
Important Classroom Update |
As we navigate this super exciting time of year, we need your help keeping our focus where it belongs: on learning, laughing, and finishing the year successfully!
The "No Toys & Squishies" Policy
We love that our students have fun, but the number of squishies, NeeDohs, and personal toys coming into the building has become excessive. They’ve turned into major distractions, trading items, and sources of playground conflict.
The Rule: Starting this Monday, personal toys, squishies, and NeeDohs are no longer permitted at GES. Any items causing a distraction or transition issue will be safely confiscated by staff.
Sensory Supports: Students with IEPs or 504 Plans that explicitly include sensory tools as an accommodation may absolutely continue to use them exactly as outlined in their plans. Outside of these official accommodations, multiple squishies are not needed throughout the day.
Please help us by checking backpacks before school on Monday and ensuring all fun toys stay safely at home!

End-of-Year Field Trips & Behavior Expectations
We are so looking forward to our final field trips and fun days! These celebrations are a privilege and a reward for a year of hard work.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please be aware that any student who receives ALC (Alternative Learning Center/In-School Suspension) or an Out-of-School Suspension (ODS) from this point forward will not be permitted to attend the final field trips of the year.
We want every single student on that bus with us, so please join us in reminding your children about the importance of making golden choices, respecting staff, and keeping their behavior top-notch!
Thank you all for your incredible partnership, consistency, and support. Let's make these last few weeks the best ones yet!

Bus of the Month is #135!
|
Congratulations to Bus 135 - You are Bus of the Month! Driver Mr. Rock and Attendant Mr. Sharrow have spearheaded a big transformation in student behavior and safety on this route and we are proud of our staff and students.
In partnership with the the District, The Granville, NY PTO and Scarlotta’s Car Hop, MJT and GES students received coupon for ice cream or a snack at their cafeteria, Jr/Sr High received coupons for Scarlotta’s and our driver and attendant received a generous donation gift from Scarlotta’s to enjoy.
The PTO gifts each driver a team building book each month called the Energy Bus too.
Watch the celebration video here.

Health and Safety Notices

Caffeine Pods and The Monkey App
1) Caffeine Pods are small, white pouches designed to be placed under the lip and can look very similar to products such as nicotine pouches. Even when labeled as “Energy Pouches,” this is concerning as it looks like a substance they cannot verify, which presents a clear safety risk. Please note: These items are strictly prohibited at school and on school grounds at GES.
2) An App called The Monkey is making the rounds among students in the region. It is a high-risk video chat platform connecting users, often children and teens, with strangers via random, short video calls.
Safety concerns include exposure to explicit content, predatory behavior, and lack of strict age verification, despite a 18+ policy. It is similar to Omegle, often used for quick, anonymous interactions and "pranks".
APPLE DEVICES:
Here is how to block this App on your child's Apple phone:
