Dear MJT Families,
It is hard to believe that we are officially in the last month of the school year! Thank you for your continued support and partnership, and I hope you've seen tremendous growth in your students!
If your child has been signed up for the summer academy, their classroom assignments will come home next week.
On Thursday, our second grade students took a trip to GES. They were given a building tour by Ms. Ten Eyck and two of the third grade teachers, and were able to enjoy some time on the playground. They are looking forward to their new "big" school!
Our third and final iReady diagnostic testing window is open. Your child will be completing these assessments in the next week or so.
MJT has a "no toys from home" rule, and always has. Teachers are finding that many students are bringing multiple toys from home, which are becoming a problem in class and around school. Please be sure your student keeps their toys at home. Thank you in advance.
Information regarding field day will be sent home on Monday. Please continue to send your student to school with a water bottle and snack daily.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Taylor
We have several special end-of-year events, so please pay special attention to the live school calendar for end of school year events.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Taylor Principal, Mary J. Tanner School 518-642-1051 Ext. 4201

Internet Safety Notice for Families |
An App called The Monkey is making the rounds among
students in the region. It is a high-risk video chat platform connecting users, often children and teens, with strangers via random, short video calls.
Safety concerns include exposure to explicit content, predatory behavior, and lack of strict age verification, despite a 18+ policy. It is similar to Omegle, often used for quick, anonymous interactions and "pranks".
APPLE DEVICES:
Here is how to block this App on your child's Apple phone:
First, if you haven't already, set up Parental Controls for Apple devices via this link.
Second, to block an App on an Apple device, enable Screen Time in Settings, create a unique passcode, and use Content & Privacy Restrictions to hide built-in apps or set age-based app limits. You can also restrict app downloads, set time limits for specific apps, or use Downtime to limit usage. These settings can be managed remotely via Family Sharing.
ANDROID DEVICES:
Here is how to block this App on your child's Android phone:
First, if you haven't already, set up Google Family Link via this link.
Second, here is the link to instructions for limiting/blocking Apps on your student's Android devices.

Pack Sneakers for P.E. Classes |
Please remember to pack sneakers each day for gym class!
March will bring a jump rope unit and will need proper and safe footwear during class. Thank you!
If you like, you can leave an old pair of sneakers in your student's classroom cubby to leave at school for gym.
If your student needs help tying their shoes, here are two instructional videos to practice at home:

Please pack a healthy, filling snack each day to help your child focus, get along with others and feel ready to learn important life skills.
Please also only send your student to school with clear water for the classroom (juice for lunch is fine).
Please avoid adding colored, sugary powders or squirts to the water as they disrupt behavior due to their ingredients. |
Here are three simple routines to help your family. |
Thank you for showing up on time, every day! We love seeing your students in school and appreciate your efforts. |
